The 3 example documentary's I used.

don't f**k with cats, the tinder swindler, high score

  DONT f**k with cats

uses many different  types of documentary styles but the two mains ones I noticed was expository mode and participatory mode they present both of these as essential parts of the documentary to keep it grounded and focused on the main interviewees to help build the story as they explain the story providing images and videos as it goes along
they present there source material as informative and suspenseful to greatly show effect on how graphic and disturbing the documentary to they engage with the audience by talking to us like we are apart of it talking about the internet what's on the internet by talking directly to the camera its creates a listen type of interview documentary hearing here talk to us like we are  in the room asking what happened by using the voicer over over the clips we truly dive deep into how its it and this documentary presents itself as almost a warning a realistic  outcome also having the talking heads convention this helps understand what we are seeing having the clips and be doing the disturbing things makes the documentary and  interesting one to any audience it also engages the audience through the internet and online persona's making this documentary almost personal talking about how this story can happen just through the internet so people who use it will be engaged

The tinder swindler

This documentary used a lot of styles as well but the main two that i noticed was the same as the  last documentary which was expository mode and participatory mode both of these of modes favouring the interview and the talking heads presented with footage and images to bring us along the ride showing every detail and every minute of what truly happened this documentary  uses archival footage which was really interesting to see because using already existing footage in fiction helped us understand the main characters struggles and to show what she wanted and how unfortunately it was the complete opposite it also uses real people .  based on true story's getting information and telling their stories It also has moments of jiggly camera footage to show the chase and the extent there go in this documentary no professional style almost chasing the story with us the tinder swindler engages with their audience through love and tinder very relatable things so showcasing these things at the starts shows the premise of the documentary they use these two real life problems to show how sometimes it cant go that making you learn how life can be

HIGH SCORE

High score uses three modes  I can pick up on which was expository mode participatory  mode also a little bit of poetic mode this documentary talks about the history of games  and how it each system or arcade created such a feeling that so many people go into as for the poetic mode sometimes its more about the mood rather than the subject there is one episode talking  about the feeling of Pac man rather than the game itself which was great they present there material as information style and a story as well taking 3 different peoples perspectives and getting information and presenting it with  fictional footage and images from that time its also uses talking heads a lot to fully show the depth of each story providing information from the person while providing footage high score engages with the audience by talking about video games and how its impacted lives this was very relatable in my case as a gamer i was pulled into the history of video game they also engage with the audience by talking directly to them as an interview or as conversation to make it feel more real and raw
using real people makes it so much better because they are us they were once us so talking to us and using real people makes the story a whole lot better
