 CULTURE IN THE DIGITAL AGE

EVALUATION

Initial research:

for started i gathered information which was the BBC. for the brief we were instuctructed to make a documentary for the BBC in the 15 minute range. the target audience that came with this brief was 15 - 25 but i wanted to find a specific interest and target audience i could focus on and apply it to that. the target audience i found was 15 - 18 and they general interests was gaming. i focused my research onto that after finding out my target audience. then i created a rationale and presented to family and local peers i work with and got their feedback on the overall ideas i could create for my documentary. i then improved the rationale and presented the better version with that i started to researchh into existing products 2 for documentary types and one that was related to gaming. after countless research i decided to reconsile with all my ideas and i chose (games that changed us forever) populer childhood games that we all played and brought a positve informational matter to my documentarty.

Pre - production:

when it came to the pre production phase i started planning what i was going to film and where i was going to film i started with a location scout and witht hat i knew where i was filming and where my clips would take place. This was important because i had to make sure the locations was safe and free at the time of filming.  After that i created a location release form making sure i was aloud to film in that location with the proper supervision and care. Then i started working on a storyboard and planning at a rough idea of what games and how it would look in the final production. after creating a rough draft of a storyboard i wanted to create a script so the games i talked about had information and facts presented witht them. i created a script headlining a few games and what i would talk about. i created a resource list as my final pre production task lining out what equipment i needed with filming making sure when going into production i had everything i needed for it.

production:

for production i started with a shooting schedule this is where i would know what i could film that day and what i could get the next day aswell and so on and forth. after that i was filming in the location for about 1.5 hrs a day filming each game clips and face clips i needed. the setting i used while filming were (1080p 30 fps) on a canon camera with a tripod. this overall made the clips cleaner and way better than using my phone.

Post production:

when it came to editing in premier pro after gathering my clips. i wanted to creat a rough first draft to test the waters and kinda present my idea in the format it was rushed and horrible but i got the given feedback i needed and i applied that to final draft which i spent way more time on and carefully editied and added in the suggestions to make it the best documentary i could make. i used the cutting tool credits and fading a lot in my documentary i used the occasional warp tool aswell to smooth bumby clips. after greatly improving my documentary i uploaded it to yourube by exporting it 1080p clear quality.

Conclusion:

overall when looking at the progress and time on this project. going down an orginal path of sourcing my own research and applying it to my documentary made it 10x better because it links to my target audience and i know about gaming so it was nice to have a personal connection to the project and made me present and put all of work into each research task.
